"Constructing Taichung Metropolitan" served as a bridge connecting Taichung's public infrastructure with the everyday lives of its citizens. In 2024, the publication underwent a comprehensive redesign aimed at shedding the impersonal image of construction projects and creating a reading experience that was more in tune with the community. Published four times a year with approximately 40 pages per issue, the publication covered topics ranging from the latest construction updates and local walking tours to public service announcements. It had become a comprehensive urban guide for the city's residents.
The core changes in the redesign were evident in both the visual design and content structure. Visually, each section now begins with a color block guide, complemented by lively illustrations and abstract totems that symbolize key city landmarks, and a tiered text layout that enables readers to quickly capture essential information. In terms of content, the publication maintained its robust professional engineering data while significantly increasing the inclusion of humanistic, soft content. A new "Local Icons Lead the Way" column was introduced, inviting well-connected local figures with deep ties to Taichung to share their insights on the beauty of urban development, thereby enhancing the magazine's cultural warmth and relevance.
