The Campus Environment Improvement for Art School of GAFA

This project aims to enhance the campus environment, particularly the courtyard area in front of the South Building of the school and the adjacent small square. Currently, these areas boast lush vegetation and unique garden landscapes, but they suffer from low usage and lack synergy with the South Building. Our design aims to rectify this situation, transforming these spaces into more comfortable and diverse gathering spots for students, teachers and alumni.
Firstly, we will preserve the existing structures while adding amenities such as seating, exhibition spaces and outdoor teaching facilities to provide students with more activity options, including studying, resting, viewing exhibitions and sketching. This enriches the functionality and interactivity of the space.Secondly, in terms of square design, we will maintain gentle lines and incorporate a tiered structure to create a wider and more comfortable panoramic view from the South Building, allowing observers to glimpse people’s activities and various public events in the space. The adjustment of entrance designs and partial removal of walls will create a more open and cohesive environment, facilitating easier access for students and teachers. Additionally, modern materials and design elements such as marble-like paving stones, transparent glass railings and the integration of red bricks with bamboo landscaping will infuse the space with a contemporary feel while preserving nostalgic elements. Lighting design and seating arrangements will further enhance the comfort and attractiveness of the space, allowing students to freely engage in communication, study and relaxation.
Ultimately, this design aims to inject new vitality and a modern atmosphere into the campus of the school while preserving its historical heritage and cultural essence.
