In the ever-evolving landscape of project management, predicting project delays early in the lifecycle poses a significant challenge. Traditional methodologies encompass stages such as requirements gathering, planning, execution, testing, and release. However, these methods often lack the foresight needed to identify potential delays at an early stage. Addressing this gap, our business sought to develop an innovative solution to predict project delays and identify their drivers.

While Agile-based dashboards have historically been used to track, measure, and report project deliverables, they do not offer predictive capabilities. To bridge this gap, we developed a sophisticated, state-of-the-art Machine Learning algorithm. Trained on extensive historical data, this algorithm successfully learned patterns indicative of potential delays, providing accurate predictions.

The solution's impact extends across various functional teams, enabling them to understand the factors driving project delays. Leveraging Explainable AI, we ensured transparency in model predictions, fostering trust among end users. This capability allows users to comprehend the rationale behind each prediction, enhancing their confidence in the model's results.

Our Machine Learning solution is scalable across diverse projects, provided the appropriate dataset is available. This adaptability is instrumental for partner teams, aiding in better planning, avoiding unforeseen delays, and ultimately improving bottom-line performance.

This initiative exemplifies the transformative potential of AI when applied strategically to organizational challenges.
