As the seventh edition of the NPMSB 2025 Children's Art Festival, Ukiyo-e Fantasia represents a long-term innovation campaign that redefines how museums engage intergenerational audiences.
Rather than operating as a one-off seasonal event, the campaign has evolved into a sustained cultural platform. A key strategic insight guided its seventh year: children who attended the first edition are now teenagers. This generational shift required not repetition, but progression. The 2025 program therefore deepened narrative complexity, layered engagement strategies, and expanded participatory formats to meet audiences at different stages of growth.
Inspired by the aesthetics and everyday spirit of Edo-period Ukiyo-e, the campaign translated heritage into immersive, contemporary experiences. A gamified exhibition journey transformed passive viewing into active exploration. Large-scale interactive photo installations, derived from Ukiyo-e composition and perspective, invited visitors to step into the artwork, encouraging organic digital sharing and cultural reinterpretation. Customized theatrical productions were developed specifically for this year’s theme, integrating storytelling with exhibition content to create a cohesive narrative environment. Complementary family workshops, mascot meet & greet, outdoor Activity, and intergenerational activities extended the experience beyond gallery walls, forming a seamless indoor-outdoor engagement ecosystem.
Operational resilience further demonstrated the campaign’s maturity.
Despite the challenges posed by typhoon season, the team demonstrates remarkable operational resilience and maturity cultivated over seven years. By swiftly adapting venue layouts and visitor flow, we ensure seamless execution while maintaining narrative integrity and the quality of the visitor experience.
Ukiyo-e Fantasia proves that a museum campaign can function as an evolving innovation system—building long-term audience relationships, transforming cultural heritage into participatory design, and continuously renewing relevance across time. In its seventh year, the campaign not only celebrated art, but embodied the power of cultural programming to grow with its community.
