2026 Taoyuan Minnan Festival – Folklore Floats Parade reimagines traditional Taiwanese Hokkien culture through contemporary design, transforming this iconic folk tradition into an inclusive public experience and an internationally recognizable city cultural brand. By integrating visual identity, spatial planning, parade curation, and audience engagement, the project revitalizes one of Taiwan's most distinctive intangible cultural traditions while preserving its historical authenticity.
Rather than presenting heritage as a static exhibition, the project transforms the city into an immersive cultural stage where elaborately designed folklore floats, traditional performances, and community participation create a dynamic public celebration. Through design-led curation and cross-sector collaboration, the festival strengthens urban identity, encourages cross-generational participation, and demonstrates how contemporary design can preserve, reinterpret, and internationally promote living cultural heritage.
