The Simulator Company proudly presents E‑SIM Pro 3, a groundbreaking innovation in healthcare simulation — and the world’s first AI-powered, full-body ECMO training system.
ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) is one of the most complex life-saving therapies in critical care. Yet, until recently, clinicians had to rely on theoretical learning, static manikins, or even animal testing to practise. E-SIM Pro 3 changes that.
Designed entirely in-house by clinical experts and engineers in the UK, the system provides an integrated, portable, and lifelike simulation platform that blends physical realism with software intelligence. Trainees can now practise ECMO procedures using a full-body simulator that responds to their actions in real time — from cannulation to oxygenation changes — supported by an AI-based physiological model that mimics a deteriorating or recovering patient.
The system incorporates modules for perfusion, mechanical ventilation, ultrasound, sensor feedback, and more — all within a compact, modular setup that mirrors real-world ICU environments. It is built to support team-based learning, scenario planning, and remote updates.
Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics, E‑SIM Pro 3 delivers meaningful outcomes. It is now in use across Europe, North America, Australia and the Middle East, with clinicians reporting significantly improved preparedness, reduced training risk, and better patient outcomes.
This innovation has also supported ethical progress, by replacing the need for animals in ECMO training scenarios. And by being both software- and hardware-upgradable, it reduces waste and extends product lifespan — supporting more sustainable medical education.
In September 2025, the company hosted Europe’s second international ECMO transport simulation course at its UK Experience Centre, in partnership with EuroELSO and ESPNIC, drawing global participation — a proud moment for both the company and the country.
E‑SIM Pro 3 reflects what innovation should be: problem-led, professionally executed, and focused on impact. It demonstrates that a British SME, without outside investment, can transform global clinical training through focused, user-driven design and continuous improvement.
